There is a professional ski athlete, Canadian I think, called Nullmeyer, I always think of "little bobby tables" when I see her, but seems like ski tv and databases were made by people that sanitize the inputs

If you, like me, maintain any package in CRAN with Rcpp dependency, be aware checks in R-devel are failing. The fix is simple (is in the bug report linked), but, at least in my case, must be done before 12/12 or the packages will be removed from CRAN.

Two extra monitor setups. My slim book has 3 usb a, 1 USB c and 1 HDMI. With the USB c and the HDMI I have two monitors in my office setup and is super nice. I understand that for common devices is preferable USB a but for video, it saves a lot of physical space compared to VGA or HDMI in a small laptop

    R

I know is not considered a "proper" programming language by some, but I've been working with it for years for scientific data analysis and I love it

Art.e shop in Sofia, Bulgaria. I bought it like a year ago on a trip I made there. They don't seem to have web but they have a Facebook page.

If the focus is in data and analysis I would recommend the exercises in the R for Data Science book from Hadley Wickham (https://r4ds.hadley.nz/). Even if they are simple exercises, they cover a lot. If the focus is in R programming and package development, then the Advanced R book also by Wickham, https://adv-r.hadley.nz/ has also exercises that come in handy as small tests and also cover all subjects.

Does subsetting (matrices or arrays) always perform a partial copy?

As far as I know, yeah, R always work with copy on modification. Some libraries as you mention (data.table) can have object/classes to avoid this, but I'm not aware of any of them working with arrays (more than 2D). Maybe parquet or arrow have something like this??

I'm @MalditoBarbudo, a data scientist at an ecology and forestry research center.

I've been using R for 14 years, starting as an user and ending as a developer. I've done also some python, sql and web development (html, js and css).

I prefer tidyverse, it fit perfectly with my mental logic, but I reckon that sometimes data.table is needed (but in that case dtplyr comes to help!).

I maintain several packages (sapfluxnetr, meteospain...) and collaborate in others (meteoland, medfate...). I also maintain a web with several shiny apps for forest data visualization (LFC).

My favourite obscure package changes every week or so, but if I have to choose one, lately I've been playing with rayshader, trying to create nice 3d map plots.
