Try this Brave Search Goggle I made, which searches a bunch of NZ companies and retailers (not all of it is NZ gear, and some of it is made by an NZ company overseas, like Macpac, Kathmandu ect).
Some of the companies I came across when putting it together:
- southernlitepacks.co.nz (backpacks)
- https://twinneedle.co.nz/ (hunting focused, but they repair clothing & packs too)
- glowingsky.co.nz (southland based merino stuff - I got some socks from them which are great)
- earthseasky.co.nz is great
- https://www.kaiwakaclothing.co.nz/
- swazi.co.nz (not 100% sure its made in NZ)
- cactusoutdoor.co.nz (I don't think their clothing is made in NZ anymore, sadly)
- https://norsewear.co.nz/ (socks, gloves, beanies)
- https://fiordlandpacks.com/ (ultralight packs)
(the full list of NZ sites in the goggle is here)
Sorry, most of it is more outdoor focused than everyday

Technically was pretty easy but there was quite a bit of snow on the ridge (pretty consistently waist to chest deep) so it was super slow going. Next time I think we'd try go up one of the faces so we could skin up but the avvy danger was a bit higher than we would've liked, so we stuck to the ridge, which was super ploddy :D

Ohau is a bit of a hidden gem in NZ - sneaks in between the way more touristy Mt Cook and Queenstown. Well worth a visit if you find yourself over here!

Yeah definitely a different standard, but as the article points out, they try and hold their own MPs to that standard.

Pretty much exactly this. Bit of a hassle really

Actually, yes. Looked like they ate quite a bit. There were half eaten chocolates all over the car.
fallaciousreasoning 6mo ago • 100%
Yeah, they left quite a mess - it was pretty clean before. Don't know what they were eating but they left it everywhere. Admittedly the mud is from me :D
We were away for a week and left it on the side of the road. Doesn't look like they were particularly competent, as they ruined the ignition but didn't manage to start it. They left quite a mess, bit annoyed to be honest.

A simple physics game I wrote
Not involved at all (apart from some posts) but thought it was a pretty cool idea. Users submit recent snow/ice/river/track observations so you can have a rough idea what you're in for.

He's always been a pretty controversial figure, but I feel like he used to be a bit wittier and more coherent. Definitely seems like he's gone off the rails the last few years.

Already there! Good suggestions though

Also added Small Planet, which I'd somehow forgotten about :D

Sweet, added! I hadn't seen Aarn packs before, seems like they make some cool stuff!

I wanted results which would prioritise things like fiordlandpacks.nz, cactusoutdoor.co.nz and southernlitepacks.co.nz. As you can see, it was only partially successful but I feel like it's still useful.
The source for the filter is https://gist.github.com/fallaciousreasoning/c7d10b8db5449fb62b601ddf111003a3 - let me know if you think there are some NZ based sites I should include.
Brave Search released a feature a which lets you customize search results. It's always a bit of a hassle searching for gear which is either made in NZ or ships to NZ, so I had a go at making one which prioritises outdoors gear which is made here (or failing that, is sold here). You can test it [here](https://search.brave.com/goggles?q=mountaineering+backpack&source=web&goggles_id=https%3A%2F%2Fgist.githubusercontent.com%2Ffallaciousreasoning%2Fc7d10b8db5449fb62b601ddf111003a3%2Fraw) Disclaimer: I work at Brave, though not on the search team

To be honest, not heaps of gear on the pitch - it's pretty cruisy climbing though (maybe 15, in Ewbanks)
The traversey third pitch of Indian Summer (18), up at the Remarkables, Queenstown, New Zealand

Just not consistently full - definitely people in them, just not all the time. Only time everything is full is the school holidays...
