Wow, logging onto kbin.social the past couple days and watching it become more and more reddit-y has sucked. People demanding new features, defending CP, the fuck is up? I knew using the Fediverse would require lots of personal curation, but I thought we were better than this. Could definitely see beehaw.org defederating from kbin.social soon :/

Yeah, my parents are pretty great. The funny thing is I think they expected me to change a lot but I'm really the same. Plus it got my mom really involved in local LGBT things which is swag.

When you click that logo, and it brings up that menu, there is a little "house" icon that brings you home :)

The thing is, this is a third party app. The platform we're on is the Fediverse, it's just third party apps. No, they don't provide the same thread-like experience that you get on kbin, but for now, there's not much a difference in simply browsing kbin instances from Mastodon apps or the similar. This isn't currently great for kbin.social with all the troubles federating, but explore your options!
Dear not-so-techy KBeans ;) While [@ernest](https://kbin.social/u/@ernest) and the other instance admins are working on infrastructure, let's work together to improve the getting-started experience of users new to Kbin. Share any graphics, FAQs, guides, or other valuable resources you've discovered (don't forget to give credit!) or created by posting them in this thread. Remember, not everyone's perfect, so if something in a resource isn't exactly correct, just point that out in your comment! A little clarification goes a long way. These can later be congregated into a dedicated magazine for new users to reference (was thinking /m/GettingStarted? Lmk). I'll start it off: * [A small FAQ to hopefully help new users to kbin](https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/11493/A-small-FAQ-to-hopefully-help-new-users-to-kbin) * [Here are some shortcuts for your old reddit habits](https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/13166/Tips-Here-are-some-shortcuts-for-your-old-reddit-habits) * [A guide aimed at Redditors for Kbin and Lemmy!](https://kbin.social/m/chat@beehaw.org/t/11867/I-put-together-a-guide-aimed-at-Redditors-for-Kbin) * [Tips for a new user!](https://kbin.social/m/asklemmy@lemmy.ml/t/10324/Tips-for-a-new-user) * [What Makes Up Each Timeline?](https://queer.party/@cassolotl/108195007013414698) EDIT: [@gettingstarted](https://kbin.social/m/gettingstarted) ([mobile link](https://kbin.social/m/gettingstarted)) is up! Continue to use this thread for questions and content. Our goal is creating structured guides for users to follow over at [@gettingstarted](https://kbin.social/m/gettingstarted), but we need content to do that. E: First, very sloppy intro guide is up [here](https://kbin.social/m/gettingstarted/t/14442/New-to-Kbin-Start-Here).

Just me, or is this what I don't want for Kbin? This is a place for meaningful discussion, something Reddit used to be good at.
