Nice! Their most underrated album imo. Then again, I'm biased as it was my first ever punk album and it blew me away at age 12.

Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father's Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success
An entertaining biography dealing with corruption and greed, covered under a layer of snark.
>Last June, fans of Comedy Central – the long-running channel behind beloved programmes such as The Daily Show and South Park – received an unwelcome surprise. Paramount Global, Comedy Central’s parent company, unceremoniously purged the vast repository of video content on the channel’s website, which dated back to the late 1990s. > > Every Daily Show episode since Jon Stewart took over as host in 1999? Disappeared. The historic remains of The Colbert Report? Disappeared. Presumably, one hopes, those materials remain archived internally somewhere, but for the general masses, they’re kaput. Instead, the links redirect visitors to Paramount+, a streaming service whose offerings pale in comparison. (The service offers recent seasons of the Daily Show to paying subscribers, but only a fraction of the prior archive.) > >Such digital demolitions are becoming routine. For fans and scholars of pop culture, 2024 may go down as the year the internet shrank. Despite the immense archiving capabilities of the internet, we’re living through an age of mass deletion, a moment when entertainment and media corporations see themselves not as custodians of valuable cultural history, once freely available, but as ruthless maximisers of profit. Those of us who believe in the historical value of accessing media from the past are paying the price.

Fun fact, during the same trip he also mentioned that doctors assisting abortions are hired killers.

How would you peeps go about allocating an amount for an apartment that'll be built over the next 2 years, with tranches to be paid every few months?
Keep the money invested, or already move the entire amount to a savings account, or just move the amount needed for the next tranch(es)?

Funny how 8 years ago, people kept saying "don't worry about Trump, there are checks and balances in place". None of that talk this time around!

One book I read predicted societal disruption for 2035, with a total collapse of nations around 2050. I found it overly dramatic at the time, but now, 15 years later, it seems we're well ahead of that prediction.

“I think we are headed for major societal disruption within the next five years,” said Gretta Pecl, at the University of Tasmania. “[Authorities] will be overwhelmed by extreme event after extreme event, food production will be disrupted. I could not feel greater despair over the future.”

no indeed, I don't think it's that specific. I mainly browse the weekly exploration playlist, based on my listens, which either recommends other of my favorite songs that I hadn't listened yet, or unknown songs that usually fit my styles. Enough for me to cut the subscriptions 🥳

I also use their Picard software to check the downloaded album, then it updates the metadata automatically and places them in the appropriate folder structure.

Will, a story about 2 young police officers in Nazi-occupied Belgium. The book was really good. I wanted to see the movie in the cinema but was too late. Yesterday I saw Netflix has it so this will be the weekend I finally get to watch it!

Started watching The Head, and must say I'm pleasantly surprised. About 2/3rds through the first season and the story has been building gradually, taking care to introduce the characters properly, and supply a good amount of intrigue. Barring a weak season finale, I'll continue on to season 2.
Surprise surprise. And of course, the usual casual dismissal of corruption: >"We take note of the audit," responded the cabinet of Minister of Mobility Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo). "We will read the additional report of the Court of Audit with great attention. Since 2018, many improvements have already been made in terms of procurement policy at Ypto."
I'm full on de-googling. I have set up ProtonMail as my main, a selfhosted NextCloud to store my calendar, drive and photos, I'm even erasing all my maps reviews by hand. The only thing I'm still unsure about: how should I replace my chromecast? Besides the amazon, apple or roku devices, which do you use? Which device do you recommend?
