Have you considered the majohn A1?

Full metal pilot capless clone for about £15.

It's the definitive "quick notes" fountain pen.

  • Hey, Syncthing has no in-built monitoring support, so sync issues tend to go un-noticed. What are your solutions to monitor syncthing nodes? Sure, I could write scripts that use the REST API, but if there's an easier way, I'll take it! Cheers

Hey, I'm choosing keys switches. I have to choose between kailh red or the pro red (for a zsa voyager). I'm torn because I'm reading online that many find the normal reds too stiff, but I'm worried that the pro red won't allow me to rest on the home row without misfires. I absolutely do rest my fingers on the home row. Especially when starting typing. I use the concave feel of the caps to confirm I'm in the right place to start. My research suggests that the mx blacks I use at home are stiffer than the reds (60gf, but much more travel), and the keys on my thinkpad are in theory stiffer too (57gf). Has anyone here trodden this same path? Any insights?

Hey folks, me again. Those of you who went from a larger keyboard to a smaller one that required the use of layers: was the transition hard? Could you still type on the old keyboard after? Context: I was asking the other day about which ortholinear to get for commuting. Although the glove80 is the closest to my current home desktop keyboard, I've ruled it out as I don't think it will fit in my backpack. If it does, it will take up too much space. So I'm looking at something like the voyager, but with such a small keyboard, there will be a learning curve. I'm used to ortholinear, but I've never used layers. And if I manage to adapt, it'd be nice to still be able to use my desktop keywell keyboard at home. Thoughts?

Hey, I'm looking for a portable ortholinear for taking to co-working in my backpack. For context, I'm a coder. I use neovim all day. At home I use a [maltron 3d](https://www.maltron.com/store/p10/Maltron_L90_dual_hand_fully_ergonomic_%283D%29_keyboard_-_UK_English.html). It's a fantastic comfortable keyboard (I think kinesis nicked the design?), although it did take getting used to. It's the only keyboard I've ever been able to touch type on. So yeah. I'd like to find something similar that is portable. It has to have quiet switches, as it's a shared office. Any suggestions? So far I've looked at: - [zsa moonlander](https://www.zsa.io/moonlander) - [zsa voyager](https://www.zsa.io/voyager) - [moeergo glove 80](https://www.moergo.com/) Those all look nice, but are too expensive. How does the ergodox ez hold up these days?

We talk about writing instruments a lot, but equally important is the paper and related bits. So tell us, what paper do you use? Do you use any cover/case for your notebook?

[Reposting because it failed to federate again] Picked this up for £11 from Aliexpress and I reckon it's one of the best FPs I own. Great for quick note taking. Sure, it's a shameless clone of a pilot capless, but I'm never going to spend that kind of money. Note also: only comes in <EF>. Writes like an <F> if you ask me. Considering buying a few more to gift to friends.

Hi, Several posts I've made to /c/fountainpens have not made it to lemmy.world from the lemmy.sdf.org instance. If you compare these two urls, you can see that the top post (and several others) are only visible when viewed from sdf: https://lemmy.world/c/fountainpens https://lemmy.sdf.org/c/fountainpens@lemmy.world I've looked at the debugging tool and the sdf instance thinks that outbound lemmy.world is up to date, so has lemmy.world rejected the posts somehow? It seems to happen non-deterministically. Some posts have made it through. This has been ongoing for at least a couple of weeks now. Any ideas? Edit: this post did federate... could it be to do with posts with images or something?

How to debug a federation issue?

Hi there, Hope this is the right place to ask. Recently I've been posting to a community on lemmy.world from my account on the sdf instance. However I've noticed that the posts sometimes don't make it to lemmy.world. I can see the post in the community when logged in in my sdf account, but if I go the the lemmy.world url in a browser, the post isn't there hours later. How can I find out what's going on? Like is it an outbound sdf thing or an inbound lemmy.world thing? Is there a log file i can read somewhere? If I can find out which server is broken, who do I talk to? (Knowing my luck this post won't federate) Cheers

    Parkker IM

[Reposting, as it didn't federate properly last time] This is a parker IM I've had in my collection a while. I don't usually go for Parker branded pens. I usually find them a bit boring/vanilla. But when I saw this one come up pristine on Ebay, I thought I'd give it a go. It looks nice, but sadly it doesn't seal well. There's a hole under the clip that lets air in. Why? I guess I could try to cover it. Bonus device in the background.

Hi, I posted twice to a community on lemmy.world and wondered why no one upvoted or replied. If I go to the the community directly via a web browser my posts don't show. Is federation broken again? My posts were 6 and 7 days ago.
